The films featured in the official section are divided into three competitions as follows: 30 shorts in the International Competition, 30 in the Ibero-American Competition, and 19 in the Documentary Competition; the winners of the first two sections will be shortlisted for Oscar nominations for best live action short film. The festival, which will run from 17 to 25 June, is a showcase for talented new filmmakers as well as a prestigious brand, and will include 17 international premieres.
The 44th edition of the festival has disclosed the core features of the programme, which will be complemented by a number of activities, meetings, a feature-length film cycle and two prizes as tributes to Aragonese director Paula Ortiz, who will receive the City of Huesca award, and French screenwriter, director, actor and playwright Jean-Claude Carrière, who will receive the Luis Buñuel award.
