New Features of the PICE Visitors Programme 2021

The PICE Visitors Programme is renewed to adapt to the new times, facilitating international contact not only in person and being more transparent, objective and effective.
 
The Programme for the Internationalization of Spanish Culture (PICE), launched by Acción Cultural Española almost a decade ago, has become a very useful tool to facilitate the international presence of our creative and cultural professionals through its two modalities: Mobility and Visitors.
 
We started the year 2021 by presenting a renewed Mobility PICE that incorporates improvements with the aim of being an even more useful tool for the cultural sector. We now extend this spirit of renewal and improvement to the PICE Visitors, which, until 2020, had the objective of facilitating the presence in Spain of foreign agents and programmers, in order for them to know first-hand the activity of the creators and institutions of our country.
 
However, the “new reality” that the pandemic has brought makes travel impossible in many cases, so in order to remain effective, we have expanded our support to include only digital or hybrid projects.
 
In addition to this adaptation to the real needs of the cultural sector, we have renewed the PICE Visitors 2021 Programme in order to provide it with greater transparency, objectivity and efficiency. The new call incorporates these new features:
►Establish more precise scales through the use of objective and defined evaluation criteria. In addition, periodic evaluations of the program will be carried out, based on fixed indicators, to analyze whether the desired objectives are being achieved.
►Publish stable and defined regulatory framework bases for the Programme. These framework bases will be complemented with those specific to each call, so as to facilitate rapid and effective adaptation to changes that may be necessary due to specific circumstances (pandemic, social situation, international policy, etc.)
►The call will always remain open, in order to facilitate the submission of applications without the pressure of deadlines, and quarterly resolutions will be made. In this way, extraordinary calls can be made that adapt to the different circumstances that arise, such as offering aid for a specific geographical area, for a specific line of action or to expand the thematic areas to which they are addressed.
►Expand the concepts that can be supported. We maintain those linked to international travel, such as travel, accommodation or meals, but we incorporate others linked to digital meetings such as acquisition or rental of equipment and materials or the hiring of technicians and collaborators necessary for the management and production of the digital event. In addition, we continue to cover costs such as translation (of texts or simultaneous) and we incorporate others, such as subtitling or sign language interpretation, which we extend to face-to-face or digital meetings.
►Foster the diversification of the grants. We have established limits for both budgetary and for the number of participants supported per event. The ceiling for funding by AC / E will be 20,000 euros per entity and 2,000 euros per international visitor, with 10 being the maximum number of visitors for which each entity can request support.
 
All these novelties and adaptations are aimed at ensuring that our PICE Program continues to be a useful instrument, especially in these difficult times that the cultural sector is going through due to the pandemic.
