Design in the Spain of the transition, in the 1980s and today, not only functioned and functions as a manifestation of the changes that were experienced at all levels within the country, but also, at the same time, operated as a of modernization and transformation of the political, social, cultural and economic reality of Spain; a Spain that built its own image through design while projecting a new image of the country abroad: the design that changed the country.
The exhibition proposal curated by Emilio Gil, renowned Spanish designer and design theorist in our country, aims to present and explain the relevance that design has had in Spain, not only for the image it has projected abroad, but also for its social and political change. Design understood as the creative, aesthetic and functional manifestation, applied to everyday life and serving both as a story of the transformations experienced by Spanish society, especially during its democratic transformation.
The exhibition project, of an eminently didactic, plastic and communicative nature, collects the experience and manifestations of Spanish design, contextualizing them in its political, social, economic and ideological environment.
