El artista polifacético Antoni Miralda (Terrassa, Barcelona, 1942) ha desarrollado especialmente para TAPAS el proyecto Food Photocall.
Miralda siempre ha mantenido una atención constante al tema de la alimentación a lo largo de su carrera. De la mano de Dorothea Selz, realizó diversos proyectos sobre arte comestible y performances hasta 1972. Es el artista de la participación y del ritual, donde la alimentación ha desempeñado siempre un rol principal. Entre sus proyectos destaca Santa Comida, Charlie Tast Point, Texas Tv Dinner, Wheat & Steak, Sabores y Lenguas, el proyecto El Internacional junto a Montse Guillén, un restaurante en Tribeca, Nueva York, dedicado a las tapas españolas donde se bebía en porrón, y el mega evento Honeymoon, desarrollado desde 1986 a 1992. Se trataba del enlace nupcial entre la estatua de Colón de Barcelona y la estatua de la Libertad de Nueva York, para festejar el 500 aniversario del descubrimiento de América por Cristóbal Colón. En el 2010, el Reina Sofía presentó en el Palacio de Velázquez su exposición antológica De gustibus non disputandum. También ha comisariado las exposiciones Power Food en Artium (Vitoria), Es Baluard (Palma de Mallorca) y F.O.O.D. (Food, Objects, Objectives, Design) en el Mint Museum de Charlotte (Carolina del Norte). Por otra parte, junto a Montse Guillén dirige Food Cultura, una fundación dedicada al universo cultural de la comida.
The many-talented artist Antoni Miralda (Terrassa, Barcelona, 1942) has devised the Food Photocall project especially for TAPAS.
The topic of food has never been far away from him at any point through- out his career. Until 1972 he was involved in edible art projects and performances with Dorothea Selz. As an artist interested in participation and ritual, food has always played an important part in his work. Notable amongst his projects are Santa Comida, Taste Point Charlie, Texas TV Dinner, Wheat & Steak, Sabores y Lenguas, the project, together with Montse Guillén, at the El Internacional restaurant in Tribeca, New York devoted to Spanish tapas where wine was drunk from a porrón, and
the Honeymoon mega event, held from 1986 to 1992 concerning the engagement of the statue of Christopher Columbus in Barcelona to the Statue of Liberty in New York to mark the quincentenary of Columbus’s discovery of America. In 2010 at the Palacio de Velázquez the Reina Sofía presented his retrospective exhibition De gustibus non disputandum. He was also the curator for the exhibitions Power Food in Artium, Vitoria; Es Baluard, Palma de Mallorca; and F.O.O.D (Food, Objects, Objectives, Design) at the Mint Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina. Together with Montse Guillén he directs Food Cultura, a foundation devoted to
the cultural universe of food.
