and ways of transmitting knowledge. The trace of Constantin Brâncuși has pervaded twentieth-century sculpture in the work of artists such as Robert Morris, Richard Serra, Isamu Noguchi, Martin Puryear, James Turrell, Anish Kapoor and James Lee Byars and his influence, directly or indirectly, has activated poetics that were no less decisive to the development of the past century. My work is no exception, as my vision of art was affected by Brâncuși in 1969, the year I travelled to Paris and came across his oeuvre and African art. Years later, in the mid 70s, I was able to see the exhibition of Tantric art at the Iolas- Velasco gallery in Madrid and picked up the thread of this early influ- ence at a time when I was concerned with issues related to Goethean studies on colour and Josef Albers’ theories of simultaneous contrast. In the following decade the most important direct influence came from Rudolf Steiner and his Goethean vision of the world, which gave me a better understanding of the work of Joseph Beuys. After my trip to the United States in 1984 and the one I made to Germany the following year, my vision became broader and more open and confirmed.
