Vasija abultada de barro poroso, que lleva en la parte superior un asa y dos aberturas, una ancha para llenarla y otra en forma de pitorro para beber. El principio de funcionamiento es simple: el agua almacenada se filtra por los poros de la arcilla y, al entrar en contacto con el ambiente seco del exterior, propio del clima mediterráneo, se evapora, lo que produce un enfriamiento. La clave del enfriamiento está en la evaporación del agua exudada, ya que esta, para evaporarse, extrae parte de la energía térmica del agua almacenada dentro del botijo.
A voluminous vessel made of porous clay,
on the top of which there is a handle and two openings: a wide one for filling and one in the form of a spout for drinking. The principle is simple: the water inside filters through the porous clay and evaporates on contact with the hot, dry exterior of the Mediterranean summer, thus lowering the temperature. The reason for the cooling is that as the exuded water evaporates, in order to do so it takes up some of the thermal energy stored within the jug.
La holandesa Marre Moerel, afincada en España, ha logrado crear verdaderos objetos de diseño a partir de moldes de vísceras, en este caso las tripas de un animal que se convierten en una bota-botijo. Se inspira en la vida española, que igual que su comida, le parece muy directa y sencilla. Su colección Food on the Table representa una manera de ver la vida muy básica
y honesta, empezando por apreciar los placeres más simples, como el comer y beber.
The Dutch designer Marre Moerel, resident in Spain, has created true design objects on the basis of molded guts. In this case those of an animal have been turned into a bota-botijo.
It is inspired by Spanish life, which, like its food, seems very direct and simple for her. Her Food on the Table series shows a way of life that is very basic and honest, beginning by enjoying the most basic pleasures, such as eating and drinking.
