exhibition architecture and both have helped me see place as a part of it. It is in the obverse and the reverse where we can imagine the metaphysical inversion of three-dimensional space. A visual experiment on the beginning of architecture, a corner in which to protect ourselves and a double direction towards which to head.
GM I would like to talk about photography. How does it relate to your other works? Do they have a linguistic content that your other works do not have?
FS Photography came into my work biographically, as the record of a decisive moment. El desayuno alemán, like the image of a time which explains and transcends the artistic subject. However, this inaugural image gave rise to a conduct that would repeat itself in works like Agua Amarga. Therefore,
it seemed that this first image would end up becoming a way of including
a narration on something that sculpture cannot express, a metaphorical
and symbolic dimension that would progressively end up becoming part of my own exhibition system. The first exhibition to incorporate photography noticeably was Agua Amarga at the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró in Majorca (1986) where I included my first polaroids. To an extent it was an experi- mental exercise in pursuit of a support that was more material than photo- graphic, more symbolic than visual, somewhat anti-photographic, automatic and blind.
