  • VIRTUAL REALITY 'Carlos III and the Dissemination of Antiquity'
    As if it were a time machine, the experience of VIRTUAL REALITY "Carlos III and the Dissemination of antiquity" tells us how he started the archaeological excavations in the ancient cities of Herculaneum and Pompeii, spreading the knowledge he acquired throughout Europe And America. This virtual reality experience of six minutes long has an educational focus, with interactivity, visual effects and computer generated environments (CGI). The content, developed for HTC VIVE by Future Lighthouse and AC/E, has been exhibited in Madrid, Naples and Mexico as a way of spreading culture. After three months of exclusive exhibition at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in San Fernando, it is now available on Steam for free in Spanish. Requires a virtual reality viewer.

    A tour into the three sections of the exhibition: The first analyses Miguel de Cervantes the man, the second displays images of his face and how it was depicted, and the third examines the myth called Miguel de Cervantes. The exhibition, held in the BNE’s Sala Recoletos, brings together the most complete set of pieces related to Cervantes and his oeuvre from the BNE’s own collection – the largest of its kind in the world – together with works from other Spanish and foreign institutions.

The collection consists of depictions of Palaeolithic paintings as well as of art from Spain’s eastern coastal region and even Iberian and medieval art from practically the whole of Spain.
