Juan Giralt met early success as a painter. Formed in the informalism of the 50s of the last century, he participated in the generational break with this movement from the middle of the following decade. His evolution from post-CoBrA expressionism led him to develop a more personal pictorial language and permeable to a new interpretation of figuration that characterized his work in the seventies and eighties, and made him one of the main references of the New Madrid figuration. In the following years, and until his death in 2007, he gradually incorporated abstraction, without ever completely abandoning the figurative element, present in the constant use of collage and the painted word.
