In the heart of the Argenta Arts District in North Little Rock, Arkansas, the Argenta Arts Foundation presents the 2018 season of the world-class Acoustic Guitar Music Series featuring touring artists from around the country and the world. A total of six acoustic guitar concerts of international artists during the first semester of 2018 that will be held every third Thursday of the month.
AC/E supports the solo concert of Susana Raya, considered by jazz critic and historian Ted Gioia, who has listed her album among the 40 best of 2016, as "the Andalusian Eva Cassidy," Susana Raya is a rare thing. "She has developed a style where voice and guitar seem to breathe at the same time".
Songwriter and classically trained guitarist, with numerous European awards, Susana combines her singer-songwriter spirit with a touch of jazz, enhanced by her Spanish roots.
Her collaboration with legendary jazz bassist, Steve Swallow opened the door to the recording of her new album - recorded live at Clubhouse Studios, Rhinebeck, NY - "Wind Rose," that includes songs created over the last five years, and a line-up of All Star players such as Clifford Carter, Ira Coleman, Leo Amuedo, and Cyro Baptista.
