TIFA is mandated to present internationally renowned authors and distinctive new writers together with the finest Canadian literary voices in a forum that celebrates books and writing; fostering awareness of the richness of world literature. TIFA has presented over 9,000 emerging and established authors from over 100 countries, including 22 Nobel Laureates. In October 2019, TIFA will be celebrating its 40th anniversary with 200 participants in more than 60 events.
The Festival pays tribute to the art of literary translation and features readings,roundtables, and interviews by a wide variety of international authors. The Festival provides a platform for emerging and established international authors to gain Canadian exposure, acquire new readers and expand their markets.
