Barcelona, Guest of Honour City at FIL Guadalajara 2025

Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) strengthens its commitment to the international promotion of books and literature by joining the celebration of Barcelona as Guest of Honour City at the 39th edition of the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) in Jalisco, Mexico.

Following the success of Spain as Guest of Honour in 2024, Barcelona takes over at the most important event of its kind in the Spanish-speaking world. The FIL will be held from November 29 to December 7, 2025, in Guadalajara.

A Tribute to the Editorial and Literary Capital

Under the motto "Vindran les flors" (The Flowers Will Come), taken from a short story by Mercè Rodoreda, Barcelona's proposal celebrates its status as an Editorial Capital in both Catalan and Spanish, as well as its historical role as a refuge for writers and a central hub for the Latin American Boom. This presence also coincides with the tenth anniversary of its declaration as a UNESCO City of Literature (2015).

The project, led by the Barcelona Institute of Culture (ICUB) and curated by literary journalist Anna Guitart, includes:
A dedicated pavilion with original design and production.
A delegation of approximately seventy authors.
Exhibitions, academic activities, and the FIL Niños (Children's FIL) program.

AC/E Commitment: Technical Assistance and Musical Promotion

Continuing the fruitful relationship established with the FIL in 2024, AC/E offers the ICUB its knowledge and institutional assistance for the organization of the project.

Our collaboration is focused on boosting the fair's cultural dimension, including contributing to the financing of the FORO FIL program. This program comprises the daily musical performances scheduled during the nine days of FIL 2025, ensuring a broad representation of the contemporary Spanish music scene.

With this partnership, AC/E highlights the continuous support for Spanish culture in major international markets and the value of exchange between Spain and Latin America.
