Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), the Cité internationale de la bande dessinée et de l'image, and the French Embassy in Spain present a new edition of the residency for a comic book creator in Angoulême, France.
This initiative aims to foster creative production, promote the international mobility of Spanish authors, and strengthen cultural ties between Spain and France.
The Residency
Location: La Maison des Auteurs (The House of Authors) in Angoulême, part of the Cité Internationale de la Comics et de l'Image.
Duration: Six months, from the beginning of January to the end of June 2027.
Objective: To facilitate the development of a graphic novel project distinguished by its artistic and innovative value.
Funding and Benefits
The selected author will receive the following support:
Financial assistance: €1,300 per month for living expenses and general living costs.
Transportation: Round-trip economy class tickets from your city of residence in Spain.
Accommodation: Room in a shared apartment (2 bedrooms) in the center of Angoulême.
Workspace: Access to a fully equipped studio at La Maison des Auteurs.
Participation Requirements
Profile: Individuals over 18 years of age with Spanish nationality or NIE (Foreigner Identification Number).
Experience: Proven track record as a graphic artist.
Restrictions: Individual applications only. Applicants must not have previously received a scholarship from La Maison des Auteurs (although prior residency is permitted).
Health: The selected candidate must have a European Health Insurance Card or private health insurance.

Letter of motivation.
Comic Project: Description (max. 10,000 characters), timeline, drawings, and sketches.
Three consecutive and complete pages of the project.
Sworn statement of authorship.

Deadlines and Selection
Deadline: May 18, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
Process: AC/E will conduct a pre-selection process, and the Maison des Auteurs jury will choose the final resident.
Notification: The results will be published on www.accioncultural.es.
