Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) is collaborating with DEV, the Spanish Association of Video Game and Entertainment Software Production and Development Companies, on the 8th edition of the "Open Culture Game Jam." This competitive and collaborative event invites developers to create video games within a limited timeframe (November 14-23, 2025, in a mixed in-person and online format) under a central theme.
The main objective of this initiative is twofold:
Promote respect for intellectual property rights: The competition seeks to raise awareness about the importance of intellectual property rights as fundamental pillars of the creative industries.
Dissemination of Spanish Cultural Heritage: The Game Jam encourages participants to create video games inspired by the vast and valuable public domain cultural content generated in Spain, celebrating its regional diversity and promoting its recognition.
This year's edition features theater as a subtheme of inspiration, focusing on the reinterpretation of classic theatrical texts and the recognition of influential figures such as María de Zayas y Sotomayor, Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda, Concepción Arenal, and Carmen de Burgos.
AC/E's collaboration strengthens the bridge between traditional culture and new forms of digital expression, promoting responsible creation and the dissemination of our cultural legacy through a medium as contemporary as video games.
The event will include an opening day with intellectual property experts and will culminate with an in-person Demo Day showcasing the most highly rated games in an iconic cultural space.
