Miguel Sbastida Selected for EKWC Residency with AC/E Support
The European Ceramic Work Centre (EKWC) and Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) are organizing this 12-week residency (August 14 - November 5, 2025).
This opportunity, aimed at Spanish artists, musicians, designers, and architects to explore ceramics, has been awarded to Sbastida (Madrid, 1989). His interdisciplinary work focuses on the intersection of visual arts and environmental studies, creating installations, performances, and films that address the urgency of the climate crisis.
Miguel Sbastida has exhibited his work internationally in solo and group exhibitions at relevant venues such as the Bozar Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels; Museo Centro Gaiás in Spain; Locust Projects in Miami; the Korea Foundation Gallery in Seoul; ARCO Madrid; the CDAN Museum; The Powerstation Dallas; CCE Montevideo in Uruguay; the Boghossian Foundation in Brussels; and the Netherlands Institute for Media Art in Amsterdam, among others.
Part of his work is already part of institutional collections including the Joan Flasch Collection at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Asia Culture Institute of South Korea, Harvard University, the DKV Collection, the BilbaoArte Foundation, and the Oneminutes Foundation in the Netherlands.
Sbastida, who currently lives and works between Finland and Spain, will bring his innovative perspective to EKWC, promising a fruitful and enriching residency period for the development of new creations that will explore the relationship between art, ceramics, and the environmental challenges of our time.
