Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), the Embassy of France in Spain, and the Mairie de Paris —with the support of the Residencia de Estudiantes in Madrid and the Cité des Arts— organize this literary exchange program. The initiative aims to promote the mobility of domestic authors, foster creative production in a multidisciplinary environment, and strengthen cultural ties between France and Spain.
For the 2027 edition, following the evaluation process of the submitted applications, the selected author to take part in this residency is Mercedes Cebrián.
2027 Resident: Mercedes Cebrián
Mercedes Cebrián (Madrid, 1971) writes essays, chronicles, poetry, and fiction. Her most recent books include the essay Estimada Clientela. Una celebración del arte de ir de compras (Siruela, 2026) and the memoir Cocido y violonchelo (Random House, 2022). She contributes to media outlets such as Letras Libres magazine, the supplements El Viajero and Babelia from El País, and Cultura/s from La Vanguardia.
She has been a resident writer at the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome, the Finestres literary residency, and the MALBA museum in Buenos Aires. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Information Sciences (UCM) and a Master's Degree in Hispanic Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. In 2018, she served as the guest editor for the publishing label Caballo de Troya (Penguin Random House). She has also collaborated with Radio Clásica (RNE) on programs such as Música de principio a fin and Sinfonía de la mañana.
Program Details
Venue: Cité des Arts, Paris.
Period: From January 5 to February 26, 2027 (dates subject to slight variations).
Financial Grant: A €3,000 allowance (€1,500/month) provided by the Mairie de Paris to cover accommodation, living expenses, and production costs.
Accommodation: Individual apartment (including kitchen and studio) at the Cité des Arts. The cost of accommodation (approx. €640/month) will be paid directly by the resident.
Travel: Round-trip travel from the resident's city of residence in Spain to Paris.
Networking: Support for networking with other local creators and access to the cultural resources of the city of Paris.
