The Vélez Blanco Renaissance and Baroque Music Festival 2025 (FestiMuVB25) transcends a mere concert program to establish itself as a comprehensive cultural project of the highest quality. Nestled in the picturesque town of Vélez Blanco, declared a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC) and surrounded by an idyllic Natural Park, FestiMuVB25 stands out for its uniqueness, combining artistic and educational excellence in a setting of unparalleled beauty.
The threads of memory are the theme that articulates the artistic and academic programming of this 24th Festival. These threads contributed to transmitting and reworking the aesthetic and symbolic memory of the Modern Age. Music, in its various forms, then became a subjective, ritual, or institutional medium for the processes of transmitting memories and forgetting.
In the 2025 edition, with the support of AC/E, the program pays tribute to Alessandro Scarlatti, a leading figure of the Baroque period, whose third centenary of his death is commemorated this year. Scarlatti, composer and harpsichordist, was born in Palermo (Kingdom of Sicily, May 2, 1660) and died in Naples (Kingdom of Naples, October 22, 1725), territories that at the time were under the control of the Spanish Empire. This special tribute underscores the historical and cultural connection, further enriching the festival's offering.
