In this year 2012, ten years after Hierro left us and ninety years after his birth, the Centro de Poesía José Hierro, in partnership with Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), among other institutions, has prepared the Hierro 2012 Commemoration event. The Commemorative year will be officially inaugurated on April 19th with the round table José Hierro, Universal Poet, in which the following figures will participate: Víctor García de la Concha, director of the Instituto Cervantes; Juan Soler, mayor of Getafe; José María Lassalle, Secretary of State for Culture; and Isabel Rosell, director of Archives, Museums and Libraries of the Autonomous Community of Madrid as well as Paca Aguirre, Fernando Rodríguez Lafuente, Tacha Romero, Leonor Watling and Alejandro Pelayo.
The event will end with the screening of a documentary revolving around the figure of José Hierro.
Given that José Hierro participated for decades in cultural radio programmes, RNE supports the reappraisal of this facet of the author through the recording of this inaugural event, which will be broadcast in RNE’s programme “La Estación Azul” on April 21st.
