The Residency is a joint initiative by (S8) Mostra Internacional de Cinema Periférico, LIFT-Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto, and Acción Cultural Española (AC/E). Its goal is to boost emerging creators by offering them the chance to produce an audiovisual piece in analog format (35mm, 16mm, Super 16mm, 8mm, or Super 8mm) in Toronto, Canada. It's open to artists born or residing in Spain, with a proven artistic background and a good command of English.
The residency, lasting between four and six uninterrupted weeks from September to October 2025, provides comprehensive support. This includes round-trip travel to Toronto, assistance with finding accommodation, a medical insurance reimbursement of up to €300, a weekly stipend of €400 for living expenses, and access to LIFT's facilities and technical equipment (valued up to €2,000). An €800 grant is also provided for film stock, development, and other production costs, along with technical and professional assistance. The selected artist will receive payments in two phases: an initial disbursement upon arrival in Toronto and a final payment after submitting a project report.
