AC/E is collaborating in this year’s event by supporting the participation of Javier Fernández Panadero in the scientific dissemination conference, Eloy García Tizón in the international storytellers’ conference and Miguel Gallardo in several illustration workshops.
Although also intended as a business event, the fair was designed as a cultural festival in which literature is the backbone, with a programme in which authors from all five continents and in different languages take part, as well as a forum for academic debate on major topical issues. During the nine days the fair runs, audiences can listen to their favourite authors; Guadalajara becomes the headquarters of the book industry; and the city is filled with music, art, cinema and theatre from the country or region that is guest of honour – this year Argentina.
Guadalajara International Book Fair seeks to promote public interest in reading, but in addition to this approach, every year the fair chooses a specific field of literature as its focus. This year’s fair sets out to promotepublic interest in science. As part of this project, scientific authors, researchers and disseminators are invited to share their opinions, ideas and love of science with the public through various activities.
TheInternational Storytellers’ Conference is the ‘secret king of literary genres’ and makes it possible to present a legion of masters of the short story in all languages and from all latitudes to large audiences and readers. Acclaimed giants of the short story and up-and-coming artists of this genre once again come together with a loyal and enthusiastic audience, for the greater glory of literature.
