Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) announces the results of the open call for the 2026 artistic residency at the prestigious WIELS Contemporary Art Centre in Brussels. Following the evaluation of the applications, the selected artist is Marina González Guerreiro (Pontevedra, 1992).
González Guerreiro’s artistic practice is characterized by a deep investigation into the subjectivization and re-signification of everyday objects. Through media such as sculpture, drawing, and painting, the artist creates installations that explore how major narratives are embedded in domestic settings. Her creative process is rooted in the accumulation of and experimentation with diverse materials—often precarious or recycled—seeking a precise balance between order and disorder, control and chance.
About the residency at WIELS Housed in a former brewery in Brussels, WIELS is one of the most prominent contemporary art centers in Europe. Its residency program offers selected artists an international working environment, curatorial support, and a unique platform for visibility in the heart of the Belgian art scene.
This initiative is part of AC/E’s international residency network, which aims to foster mobility, the exchange of experiences, and the internationalization of Spanish creators, allowing them to develop their projects in world-class institutions.
Further information: Marina González Guerreiro will join the center during the first semester of 2026 to develop her research and production project.
