About CAPACETE and the 2026 Programme

CAPACETE is an independent institution located in Rio de Janeiro, home to the oldest artistic residency programme in Brazil. It operates as a discursive and mobile platform that facilitates research and documentation of aesthetic, social, and political processes in South America.

The 2026 edition, directed by researcher Rubens Takamine, revolves around the theme “Technologies of Approximation”. This cycle proposes expanding the idea of technology beyond the digital, exploring ancestral knowledge, rituals, agriculture, and forms of coexistence that transform human life without imposing hierarchies over the contemporary.

Grants and Benefits

The selected resident will receive a comprehensive grant including:

Flights: Round-trip economy class tickets from Spain.

Accommodation: A three-month stay in Rio de Janeiro, including workspace.

Financial Stipend: €2,700 net (delivered upon arrival) for production expenses, living costs, and other residency-related needs.

Health Insurance: Full medical coverage for the entire duration of the stay.
