The Spanish Pavilion architecture was selected among the best at EXPO Osaka 2025.

Tokyo (Japan) - 11 september 2025

The prestigious Japanese monthly magazine Casa Brutus, a prestigious publication specializing in architecture and design, has chosen the Spanish Pavilion as one of the best at Expo 2025 Osaka and features it in its print and digital editions, which go on sale this week.

Spain is ranked fifth on a list of 20 national and corporate pavilions participating in the global event that brings together more than 150 countries and territories.

The article dedicated to the Spanish Pavilion features a photograph of Expo mascot Miyaku Miyaku, wearing a transparent raincoat, and the caption, "I would have liked to dance flamenco on stage. But even on rainy days, I enjoy the Expo."

The phrase refers to the Plaza del Sol, the stage located at the top of the pavilion where a flamenco dance and singing performance takes place almost every day, attracting crowds of visitors.

The magazine mentions the architectural dialogue between the Spanish Pavilion's staircase and the Grand Ring, the circular wooden structure that surrounds the entire Expo site and was designed by renowned architect Sou Fujimoto.

Photographs of the Spanish Pavilion's exhibition are included, with its two large spaces dedicated to ocean currents and Spain's tourist image, as well as images of the pavilion's logo adorning cups and fans, among other souvenirs.

The Spanish architectural firms Enorme Studio S.L.P., Smart and Green Design, S.L., and Néstor Montenegro Mateos, the designers of the Spanish Pavilion, are mentioned.

The twenty pavilions selected were:

null2, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Spain, Better Co-Being, France, Dialogue Theater, Singapore, the Philippines, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Colombia, Blue Ocean Dome, Belgium, Oman, the Netherlands, Bahrain, and Uzbekistan. Austria and Portugal share twentieth place.

The Spanish Pavilion was selected on September 2nd as a finalist in six categories of the 2025 World Expolympics, which evaluates aspects such as the design, execution, and impact of the exhibition offering at Expo 2025 Osaka, which opened on April 13th and closes on October 13th.

Spain is among the finalists in the categories of Best Exterior Architecture, Best Sustainable Pavilion, Best Thematic Concept, Best Presentation, Best Exhibition, and Best Large Pavilion. The Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded on September 23rd in Osaka.
