Spain Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka

International Expos
Osaka, Kansai (Japan)
13 April - 13 October 2025

Spain's participation in the 2025 Osaka Expo represents a unique opportunity to showcase the innovation, creativity, and sustainability that characterize our country. With the theme "The Kuroshio Current," the Spanish pavilion seeks to connect with visitors through an immersive experience that celebrates the relationship between Spain and the sea.

The Pavilion and Spain's activities at Expo Osaka 2025 are organized by Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), a public entity responsible for managing Spain's presence at World and International Exhibitions. Following a public competition held by AC/E in 2023, the architecture and design firms Néstor Montenegro, Enorme Studio, and Smart and Green Design have been awarded the commission to create the Spanish Pavilion at the 2025 World Expo in Osaka.

This participation in the 2025 Osaka Expo represents a unique opportunity to showcase to the world the innovation, creativity, and sustainability that characterize Spain.

Key features of the Spanish Pavilion

  • Nature-inspired design: The pavilion takes the Kuroshio Current as its reference, a powerful ocean current that influences the climate and biodiversity of Japan. Its architectural design, by the studios Néstor Montenegro, Enorme Studio, and Smart and Green Design, evokes the organic forms of the sea and the sun's energy.
  • Sustainability: The pavilion is constructed with recycled and renewable materials, minimizing its environmental impact. Additionally, efficient energy solutions have been implemented to reduce energy consumption.
  • Immersive experience: Visitors will enjoy a multisensory experience that will transport them along the Spanish coast, from the beaches of Galicia to the Mediterranean. Projections, sounds, and interactions will explore topics such as marine biodiversity, the blue economy, and the fight against climate change.
  • Cultural content: The pavilion will also accommodate Spanish artistic and cultural expressions, highlighting the country's rich history and traditions.

Objectives of Spain's participation

  • Showcase Spanish innovation: Present the latest trends in science, technology, and design, as well as the solutions Spain offers to global challenges.
  • Foster international collaboration: Establish strategic alliances with other countries and international organizations to address common challenges.
  • Promote Spain as a tourist destination: Raise awareness of Spain's cultural and natural diversity, as well as its rich gastronomy.
  • Contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals: Demonstrate Spain's commitment to sustainability and sustainable development.
