In this year’s edition, the festival will deal with the mechanisms of remembrance and asks how objects provoke history and memory – in a private and in a public way, focusing on intimate processes as well as on the construction of national narratives, individual and collective identities. The festival will invite approx. 15 international groups to participate and to show their artistic work. We expect about 2.000 spectators and aim at a occupancy rate of 90%.
AC/E supports the participation of El Solar. Agencia de detectives de objetos with a site-specific production. They try with this project to figure out which stories lie behind the renovated houses and under the new streets. The festival is interested in the view of the Spanish artists dealing with the world of objects and hopes for a new perspective on the history of the city. The three artists will work for two months in two residencies in August/September and October/November. There will be shows during the whole festival where this production will be the main project of the festival.
“Theater der Dinge” is one of the major festivals for contemporary puppetry and object theatre in Germany with international reputation. The festival organized by the production house Schaubude Berlin, which was awarded the German Theatre Price in 2017, is known for staging recent tendencies, focusing on unique artistic quality and aesthetic diversity and searching for the borders of the genre.
