Granada is hosting the 2nd edition of CULTUR_ALH. Festival Internacional de Arte, Literatura y Humanidades, a strategic meeting point for the exchange of ideas, authors, and contemporary debates. Running from September 24 to 27, 2026, the festival is moving beyond literature to integrate an expanded view of thought and the arts.
In this edition, CULTUR_ALH is introducing the innovative concept of "Guest Author of Honor"—replacing the traditional format of a guest country or city—to honor Averroes (Cordoba, 1126–Marrakesh, 1198) on the 900th anniversary of his birth. The Andalusian philosopher embodies an intellectual homeland without borders, linking reason, science, and intercultural dialogue from a non-Eurocentric perspective.

The revised program brings together leading international figures in literature, feminism, and critical thought to activate Averroes' legacy in light of major contemporary challenges:
Inaugural Act: "Mirar sin miedo"
Lina Meruane in conversation with Erika Martínez
Exploring the body as a political territory, illness as a form of knowledge, and writing as an act of survival—examining the margins of life and literature against the grain of Averroesian decolonial thought.
"La busca de Averroes"
Roundtable with José Antonio Pérez Tapias, Juan Antonio Macías Amoretti, and Lola Ferre. Moderated by Pilar Aranda.
Inverting Jorge Luis Borges' famous story, this panel explores what the Cordoban philosopher offers us today: reason alongside faith, commentary as creation, and intercultural dialogue as a living legacy of al-Ándalus.
"La última frontera del capitalismo"
Silvia Federici in conversation with Josefine Table
A deep dive into how capital disputes the ultimate frontier—women's bodies and invisible labor—tracing Federici's seminal work from Caliban and the Witch to the defense of the commons.
"Averroes, lecturas para el presente"
Rita Segato in conversation with Marga Sánchez
A essential dialogue on the present and its potential futures, mapping capitalism, the body, and violence through the lens of one of contemporary feminism's most fundamental thinkers.
Closing Act: "En busca de la frase perfecta"

Closing CULTUR_ALH 2026 with a reflection on language, memory, time, and the art of enduring, connecting Banville's singular literary craft with the lasting resonance of Averroes.
