2nd Call for AC/E Grants for Translation of Literary Works 2020

On the occasion of Spain's participation as a Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2022, Acción Cultural Española created in 2019 these translation grants to promote Spanish literary works among foreign publishers.

Calendar
Application submission deadline: from October 6 to November 15, 2020.
Application correction period: from November 30 to December 4, 2020.
Publication of the list of accepted applications: December 18, 2020.
Publication of the final list of granted: January 27, 2021.​
Deadline finished on 15 November 2020.
The AC/E translation grants seek to encourage the sale of rights to foreign publishers and to publish Spanish literary creations, thus favoring their international visibility and recognition. The accepted languages ​​for translations are German, English, French, Dutch and Italian.
There are two lines of grants:
1.  AC/E Grants for Translation and in Support of Illustration for foreign publishers.

2. Grants for translation of samples for the preparation of dossiers of foreign promotion, for Spanish publishers and agents.

Applications can only be made for works published by Spanish publishers as a printed book and with commercial distribution in bookstores in the following modalities: narrative (fiction, nonfiction), essay, poetry, theater, drama, YA literature, picture book, graphic novel and comic.
In the case of illustrated works and graphic novel, additional help may be requested for the illustrator's fees.
AC/E will not fund scholarly works, textbooks, exhibition catalogues, unpublished and self-published works, travel guides, research studies, minutes of congresses, manuals, digital-only and/or print-on-demand works, and similar categories.
