Spain will be the Country Guest of Honour at the 2021 Frankfurt Book Fair, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of Spain’s participation in 1991. Since then, the international presence of Spanish literature has been growing and, as a result of this invitation, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, through the General Directorate for Books and to Promote Reading, backed up by Acción Cultural Española AC/E, has arranged, under the motto Spain, a plural country, a broad and encompassing programme, to present Spain’s dynamic culture, its huge variety of aesthetic proposals, and the country’s characteristic plurality of languages.
At this 2019 summit, between 16 and 20 October, the programme will present current authors who have associated their work to Spain’s history, with its complex and highly rich literary tradition. To that end, the activities arranged have focused on various themes.
